INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY SERVICE
Interventional Oncology provides an ever evolving array of minimally invasive treatments included, but not limited to:
Chemoembolization: catheter directed delivery of cancer-killing treatment to the site of tumors, decreasing systemic side effects.
Cryoablation: percutaneous placement of a small needle which can freeze the tumor.
Irreversible Electroporation: minimally invasive placement of small needles that deliver electric signal to disrupt the integrity of the tumor cells themselves, effectively killing them.
Microwave Ablation: minimal invasive placement of small needles into the tumor which delivers electromagnetic wave signals to kill cancer cells.
Selective Internal Radiation Therapy: catheter directed administration of small radioactive spheres delivered directly to the tumors, curing off the blood supply; also known as Y-90.
Radiofrequency Ablation: percutaneous placement of small needles directly into the tumor which delivers intense heat, destroying the tumor.
